Yalancı Yarim

Ferdi, the spoiled son of the factory owner Derviş Bey, has broken off yet another engagement and lives comfortably whenever his father goes away on business. Things get complicated when his uncle Mahmut Bey turns up and insists on meeting the bride to be. Finding a girl of the kind the uncle would approve of is not easy. Alev, poor and guileless, comes to the rescue. Ferdi says he will marry her, and Alev and her family believe it and start preparing a wedding. Ertem Eğilmez made this romantic comedy at Arzu Film, and it is about an engagement built on a lie getting out of hand. It was the second thing Tarık Akan and Emel Sayın did together, and Emel Sayın's songs are its backbone. The cast, which also includes Münir Özkul, Kemal Sunal, Metin Akpınar and Zeki Alasya, is counted among the strongest comedy teams Yeşilçam had at the time. The return of the former fiancée wrecks the arrangement completely.
