Frankie Ng Chi-Hung What Young and Dangerous Is About
Five young men in Hong Kong move from neighbourhood scrapping into the structure of a triad. Karaoke, fights, oaths of loyalty, betrayal and death, all together and all fast. Adapted from a comic, it was such a hit that five sequels followed within three years. Andrew Lau would later make Infernal Affairs. One note: the series was heavily criticised in Hong Kong for making criminal organisations look attractive and was accused of drawing young people towards them. It is worth keeping that argument in mind while watching.
