Young Husbands

In a small Italian town a group of young men realise that their youth is ending and that marriage is next. They come together one last time to live the old days over again, but the reunion does not go as they hoped and ends in disappointment. As one after another marries, the group breaks up, infidelities and betrayals come to light, and how much of what they took for friendship was only habit becomes visible. One by one they accept that childhood is over and that the next stage has to be faced. In Mauro Bolognini’s ninety eight minute Italian film, Isabelle Corey, Antonio Cifariello, Franco Interlenghi and Gérard Blain appear. It was completed in 1958 and tells provincial life in the 1950s from the inside.
