A Slight Case of Murder

Prohibition ends and Remy Marco, king of the bootleggers, decides to go legitimate. There is one problem: his beer is terrible and nobody will drink it. The banks are about to take his house, his daughter has brought home a fiancé from a rich family, and on top of that there are four corpses in a room of his summer place. Who killed them is anyone's guess. Remy sets about solving it by distributing the bodies to the doorsteps of people he knows around town. Lloyd Bacon directs, with Edward G. Robinson as Remy, sending up his own gangster roles. It is adapted from the play by Damon Runyon and Howard Lindsay. Eighty-five minutes. One of the fastest-talking comedies of the thirties, in which even the dead are part of the joke.
