Act of Love

Robert Teller is on holiday on the French Riviera. There he begins to tell his own past. The years he tells are the years of the Second World War. He was a soldier in France then. He met a poor young woman called Lise. The two of them fell in love. They wanted to marry and permission did not come. An accusation of prostitution had been made against Lise. Teller’s commanding officer therefore refused the match. The two of them were separated. Teller later learns what became of her. What he learns tests the two of them once more. The story moves through what he remembers. Brigitte Bardot is in the cast as well. Kirk Douglas and Dany Robin appear in the hundred and eight minute film, a French and American co-production Anatole Litvak finished in 1953.
