Angel and Sinner

A group from Rouen sets out by stagecoach. All of them are frightened. Among them is Elisabeth Rousset, who is called Boule de Suif. During the journey she does the group a considerable service. What she gets back is stupidity and self-satisfaction. Some time later she comes up against a Prussian lieutenant. His friends have nicknamed him Fifi. The man makes no secret of his taste for pillage. He does not hide his cruelty either. In the end Elisabeth kills him. The account is set in a country under occupation. The journey and what comes after stand as two separate parts. Micheline Presle and Louis Salou take the leads in Christian-Jaque’s French film of 1945.
