What As the Palaces Burn Is About
It began as a music documentary following Lamb of God and their listeners around the world, meant to show how music binds people when nothing else is left in common. Then, during filming in 2012, the project was thrown somewhere else entirely: the singer Randy Blythe was arrested and charged over the death of Daniel Nosek, a nineteen year old who was hurt at a 2010 show in Prague. From that point Don Argott's film becomes a courtroom story. Blythe was acquitted in March 2013 and the acquittal was upheld on appeal that June. The court said it saw a moral responsibility for the death but found no criminal liability, placing the weight on the promoters and the security staff.
