What Framing John DeLorean Is About
John DeLorean was one of the youngest division heads at General Motors before he left to build a car of his own. The stainless-steel machine with the gullwing doors was produced at a plant in Northern Ireland and did not sell. With the company about to go under, DeLorean was caught in a drug sting. He was acquitted in 1984 on the grounds of entrapment; his reputation never came back. Don Argott and Sheena M. Joyce's film is documentary and reenactment at once, with Alec Baldwin as DeLorean and Morena Baccarin as his wife Cristina Ferrare. It does not decide whether the man was a victim or a criminal; it leaves the two accounts standing next to each other.
