What Awesome; I Fuckin' Shot That! Is About
Fifty camcorders were handed out to people arriving at a sold out Beastie Boys show at Madison Square Garden on the ninth of October 2004, with one instruction: never stop recording. What came back was cut into a concert film. In Adam Yauch's production the hall is as visible as the stage: the queue for the toilets, the beer line, conversations between friends, and shaky frames taken from inside the crowd. It inverts the concert film form, replacing the smoothness of professional camerawork with the audience's own view. Messy, and alive for precisely that reason.
