What Barnacle Bill Is About
A naval officer who gets seasick takes charge of an amusement pier instead of a ship, and runs into the resistance of the town. Alec Guinness plays both the officer and six of his seafaring ancestors, in short episodes that start with a bewildered caveman rowing in circles in his coracle and end with his own father's inglorious death at Jutland. Charles Frend directed, and it was the last Ealing comedy and the last thing Guinness did for the studio. He said he took it out of friendship for Frend. In the United States it was shown as All at Sea.
