The Foreman Went to France

The film is set during the Second World War. The account rests on real events. Fred Carrick is a foreman at a factory. The factory makes war material. Three of its special machines are in France. They had been lent out there. The German army is about to enter France. Carrick decides to get the machines back. He sets off without waiting for orders. He is not left on his own in France. An American woman helps him. Two British soldiers join him as well. A mayor and a stationmaster are part of it too. The front line closes in along the way. Clifford Evans and Constance Cummings take the leads, with Tommy Trinder and Robert Morley also in the cast, in Charles Frend’s British film of 1942.
