Beauty and the Bastard

Nelli comes from a good family. Her parents have already planned her career and the man she will marry. What Nelli wants is to sing. In a studio she meets Sune, a young hip hop musician with a short fuse and no money, and asks him to make her a demo. He does not take the job seriously, and then he does. The worlds the two of them come from have nothing in common, and every meeting is a reminder of it. As the music goes on, Nelli's life at home tightens. Dome Karukoski's first film; a hundred and two minutes, with Pamela Tola as Nelli and Samuli Vauramo as Sune. It was one of the most watched Finnish films of its year, and its music comes out of the Finnish rap scene.
