Blood Curse

A family from the city inherits an old house in a small village and moves there. They try to settle into the new life, but the village has an order of its own: superstition, old stories and a past nobody speaks about openly. Strange things start happening. The more the family learns about their own line, the more they come to think that they inherited something else along with the house. Tiago Guedes and Frederico Serra directed it together, and it is counted as Portugal's first horror feature. It was made with limited means and does not chase effects or sudden scares; its real question is the difference between believing and not believing. It does not look down on the village's beliefs, and it does not leave the city family's scepticism comfortable either. Adriano Luz and Manuela Couto are in the leads.
