Bowie: The Final Act

Jonathan Stiasny's 2025 documentary is about David Bowie's late work. It covers his return to recording after a long silence and the album released days before his death. The argument is that this was a planned close. The musicians who took part in the sessions describe how much they knew of the illness and how the record was assembled; the narrative debates whether the meaning was given afterwards or designed from the start. Bowie himself is present through archive footage. Alongside the musicians, well-known figures who call themselves admirers also speak; the documentary does not summarise the whole career and keeps to the final years. Who it's for: Bowie listeners and those who like music documentary. Who it's not for: viewers expecting an account from the beginning of the career; the film passes over the earlier periods quickly.
