What Colorful Is About
A dead soul is given a second chance: it will live six months in the body of a boy who killed himself and try to remember its own past error. His family and his school know him; he knows nobody. The film explains slowly why the boy did it and gives no single reason; the narrative shows the family and the school each carrying a share. A suburban Tokyo railway line and the train journeys are its constant ground. Keiichi Hara directed, adapting a novel. A real warning: the film opens with a suicide attempt and the subject stays at the centre throughout. The exploitation of a teenager and infidelity within a family are also part of it.
