Cool & Crazy

Berlevåg is a small fishing village in the north of Norway, beyond the Arctic Circle. The documentary is about the members of the male choir there. In the choir are fishermen and factory workers. Coming together gives them an occupation and a companionship. Then an invitation arrives that nobody expected: they are to sing in the Russian city of Murmansk. Over the course of that journey the quarrels among them come out too. The film shows the hardness of life in the north and the state of these men together. The hundred and four minutes are spread over a season. Knut Erik Jensen’s Norwegian and Swedish documentary was completed in 2001.
