What Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Our Dinosaur Diary Is About
Shinobu Sasaki's 2024 animated film is one of the feature entries in the Crayon Shin-chan series. At its centre is the friendship between the family dog Shiro and a small dinosaur; when the dinosaurs exhibited at a theme park escape, the children are drawn in. The series template holds here too: crude humour, the adult world broken by children's logic, and an emotional turn near the end. What distinguishes it is building the story around Shiro; the dog, usually a background figure, moves to the centre. The animation is at the series' standard. It runs long and the middle section is scattered. Who it's for: families who follow Crayon Shin-chan and anyone looking for dinosaur-themed children's films. Who it's not for: adults new to the series, or anyone who dislikes crude humour.
