What Dearest Is About
A divorced couple in Shenzhen lose their small son off the street one day. For three years they cross China looking for him, putting up posters, posting on forums, joining the networks that parents of abducted children build for each other. When they find him the film does not end; its second half begins. It crosses over to the peasant woman who has raised the boy for three years without knowing where her husband got him. Peter Chan works from a real case and sets both sides down beside each other without trying to make either one right. The abduction is not really the subject; who the child belongs to afterwards is. Zhao Wei, Huang Bo and Hao Lei star.
