Dustin Poirier What Fightville Is About
The documentary follows a small scale mixed martial arts operation in Lafayette, Louisiana. The camera follows the man running the promotion as well as the fighters who get into the cage and the coaches who train them. The figure who comes to the front is a young fighter rising on a run of victories. The film shows fighting not only as a sport but as something that works in that town like a ritual, and as a door that does not open for these people any other way. The account also shows the fighters outside training: the work, the money and what happens after a fight that is not won. The eighty five minute American documentary by Petra Epperlein and Michael Tucker was completed in 2011.
