His new commander is Captain Sakuma. Sakuma is harsh and overbearing. He gives Kosugi a task. The task is to make a group ready for combat. That group used to be the military band. Some of them hardly count as soldiers. Kosugi has to train them. There is very little time. The danger they face is real. The film tells the war and comedy together.
