What Rainbow Kids Is About
At the centre of the film is an elderly woman. She is the head of a wealthy family. One day she is kidnapped. The kidnappers are a group of three. They have little experience. They settle on a ransom figure. They tell the woman the figure as well. She is not exactly flattered by the amount. As she sees it she is worth a great deal more. So she takes a hand in the business. She starts arranging the ransom plan herself. The roles change places that way. The kidnappers do as the kidnapped woman says. The account is built on that reversal. Ken Ogata and Tanie Kitabayashi take the leads, with Toru Kazama also in the cast, in Kihachi Okamoto’s Japanese film of 1991.
