Golgotha

The film tells the last days of Jesus. It begins with his entry into Jerusalem. A crowd meets him there. The rulers of the city are uneasy about it. They see him as a threat. A decision is taken to seize him. Judas, one of his disciples, helps in it. Jesus is arrested at night. The trial begins. The Roman governor Pilate has to give a ruling. Herod is drawn into it as well. In the end he is executed as a criminal. The film tells the events in a ceremonial register. The crowd scenes are kept wide. The account stays close to the gospel text. Harry Baur and Robert Le Vigan appear in the ninety five minute film, an Algerian and French production Julien Duvivier finished in 1935.
