What Marie-Octobre Is About
Years after the war, the members of an old resistance cell gather in a house at the invitation of the woman whose code name was Marie-Octobre. The reason: their leader was denounced to the Germans and killed, and whoever denounced him was in the room that night. Through the evening each of them speaks in turn, each becomes a suspect in turn, and the dead man himself ends up under question too. The film stays in one house, in one night, almost in real time, and its force comes from that confinement.
