What Gone with the Woman Is About
The man's name is never even given. One day a woman moves into his flat and starts running his life: where things go, the schedule, the friends, the plans for the future. He is startled at first, then gets used to it, and in the end falls hopelessly in love with her. At one point she disappears and comes back. The man no longer knows what is real. Petter Næss's Norwegian film is adapted from Erlend Loe's novel. The telling runs throughout on the man's inner voice, and that voice is always a step behind: while it is trying to explain what is happening, the thing has already happened. Trond Fausa Aurvåg takes the lead, with Peter Stormare also in the cast. The humour is dry and Scandinavian.
