What Groom from London Is About
For her father’s sake Betty is engaged to Kostas, a hard working and good natured young man who works in her father’s shop selling electrical goods; the older man genuinely wants him as a son in law. One day Kostas saves Mary, who tries to take her own life after being left by her English lover. He is then persuaded to pass himself off as a rich Englishman in order to protect her from a father who is trying to marry her to someone she does not want. The bigger the lie grows, the less anyone can say who is engaged to whom. Kostas Voutsas and Nora Valsami appear in Giannis Dalianidis’s seventy eight minute Greek comedy, completed in 1967.
