What Wake up Vassili Is About
Vasilis is a poor, conservative man working in a company who buys lottery tickets constantly and never wins. His life is turned over when his younger sister turns out to be an anarchist and takes up with a leftist he already knows and cannot stand. Then everything reverses: the two young people suddenly come into millions and start living exactly the life they had been arguing against. Vasilis cannot take the sight of it. The film puts the political argument of Greece at the end of the sixties inside a comic mould and makes fun of both sides. Giorgos Konstantinou and Elena Nathanail appear in Giannis Dalianidis’s eighty one minute film, completed in 1969.
