What Liar Wanted Is About
A sharp quarrel sends the life of a shameless liar down an unexpected road: the man facing him is a resourceful member of parliament who sees the talent at once. From then on lying is no longer a fault but a profession, and the man rises quickly. But past a certain point the question changes: does a gift for invention always pay, or does everything turn over once one lie too many has been told. The film does not take aim at politics directly; it makes its comedy out of the comfortable relation politics keeps with lying. Dinos Iliopoulos plays the lead in Giannis Dalianidis’s eighty two minute Greek film, completed in 1961.
