What Heads or Tails Is About
Since his wife died, Inspector Louis Baroni has shut himself into his house and mostly stopped seeing people. He is pulled out of it by the suspicious death of Madame Morlaix, whose husband Edouard says she fell from an upstairs window. Baroni does not believe him, and because he does not believe him he will not let go, even after the evidence runs out and the file is closed. Robert Enrico puts two great French actors face to face, Philippe Noiret against Michel Serrault. It works less as a police procedural than as a study in stubbornness, one man slowly tightening around another over time.
