What Hit the Deck Is About
Three American sailors come ashore on leave in San Francisco, which is also their home city, and all three at once find their affairs in a tangle. Bill’s fiancée Ginger is tired of waiting and wants him either to marry her or to go his own way. Danny meets a young singer named Carol and learns that his sister Susan has fallen for a much older man with a reputation, and tries to put a stop to it; Rico has his own troubles. Roy Rowland’s hundred and twelve minute American musical took its songs from Vincent Youmans’s Broadway musical of the twenties but built a new story around them.
