Tenth Avenue Angel

Flavia has been told that Steve, the man engaged to her aunt Susan, has gone on a trip around the world. In truth Steve has just finished a prison term. While he is looking for a way to make some money, his old associates come to him. When Flavia finds out the truth she loses her faith in her family and in God alike. The rest of the film is about whether that faith can be built back. The account is set in New York in the years of the Depression. The mark left on a child by the lies adults tell in good faith is the real subject. Margaret O’Brien and Angela Lansbury take the leads, with George Murphy also in the cast. Roy Rowland’s seventy four minute American film was completed in 1948.
