What Hobbyhorse Revolution Is About
The documentary follows young people in Finland who spend their time with toy horses. They ride these horses and look after them. The film follows three of them closely. All three are in their teens and are having a hard time in their own lives. The pursuit opens a space for them, and it is there that they find their own voice and what they are good at. The work does not find it odd and laugh at it; it takes it seriously. The account moves through what the young people themselves say. The camera is with them at home and among their friends as well. Selma Vilhunen’s Finnish documentary, ninety minutes long, was completed in 2017.
