What Home Movie Is About

The documentary visits houses that are not like other houses. Each one was built around the life of the person inside it. The three of them have nothing in common. Linda Beech lives in a tree house in Hawaii. She was once on a television series in Japan. Diana and Ed Peden live in a missile silo. The silo had been abandoned and they turned it into an underground home. Bob Walker and Francis Mooney rebuilt their house for their cats. There are more than a dozen of them. The whole place is arranged around the animals. The camera enters each home with affection rather than mockery. Chris Smith had made American Movie before this, and the account is kept short and light, playing as comedy as much as documentary. The sixty six minute film is an American production finished in 2001.
