Hotel

A historic hotel in New Orleans called the St. Gregory is struggling to stay afloat. The film opens up the inside of a machine that runs around the clock: its ambitious but loyal manager, the chase through the service passages after a thief who relieves the guests of their property at night, the business manoeuvring for control of the place, and a diplomat guest with something to hide. It is adapted from Arthur Hailey's 1965 novel and directed by Richard Quine. The cast is broad: Rod Taylor as the manager, Melvyn Douglas as Warren Trent who owns the hotel, with Karl Malden, Merle Oberon and Catherine Spaak. It also touches how segregation worked at the door of a southern hotel.
