Hyderabad Blues

Varun comes home after twelve years. He spent that time in America. The place he returns to is Hyderabad. He has come for a month’s holiday. But he finds it hard to settle back in. His habits run against those of the people there. His family asks him about marriage. The idea of an arranged match feels foreign to him. Around this time he meets a woman who is a doctor. Her name is Ashwini. The two of them start seeing each other. But the notion of dating finds little welcome around them. Varun feels like a stranger in his own country. Nagesh Kukunoor and Rajshri Nair take the leads, and Kukunoor directed the Indian film of 1998 himself.
