What Rockford Is About
A new pupil arrives at a Christian boarding school in India that runs on strict rules and takes boys only. For the boy the change is harsh; getting used to the order of the school also means accepting the hierarchy that holds there. The account does not soften the pressure the children put on one another, and part of school life is shown in a way that will be hard on the viewer. Instead of making this setting a matter for nostalgia, the film tells how those who enter it are reshaped. The director appears among the cast himself. Rohan Dey and Nandita Das appear in Nagesh Kukunoor’s hundred and two minute Indian film, completed in 1999.
