What Idukki Gold Is About
Five friends who were together at school come back into contact after thirty five years and decide to return to their old school. What they are after is to find once more the herb they knew in their youth, grown in the Idukki district and known as Idukki Gold; but once they set out, the burdens each of them carries in his own life come out as well. When they fail to find what they are looking for they see that what they were really after was not the herb but the friendship among them. Aashiq Abu’s hundred and twenty five minute Malayalam film was adapted from a story by Santhosh Echikkanam, with a screenplay by Syam Pushkaran and Dileesh Nair. Maniyanpilla Raju, Prathap Pothen, Babu Antony and Vijayaraghavan appear; it opened on 11 October 2013.
