Twenty years on, the same crew, the same idea, and noticeably older bodies. Two real stories sit behind the film. The first is Bam Margera, fired during production for breaching the sobriety clause in his contract. He posted on Instagram that he had broken sobriety and had officially been fired, then sued the producers. The parties settled, Margera asked for the suit to be dismissed on 14 April 2022, and the terms were never made public. The second is Johnny Knoxville. The Magic Trick stunt with a bull left him with a broken rib, a broken wrist, a concussion and a brain haemorrhage. He was briefly unconscious and failed cognitive checks in the ambulance. He announced his retirement from the franchise afterwards. For the first time the series added new main cast: Jasper Dolphin, Eric Manaka, Rachel Wolfson, Zach Holmes, Sean McInerney and Compston Wilson. The pandemic shut production down in March 2020 and it resumed seven months later in October, with daily testing costing over a million dollars. Who it is for: fans of the series, and anyone interested in where friendship and stupidity overlap. Who it is not for: viewers with weak stomachs. At least three sequences here push that on purpose.
