What Kuroko's Basketball - Movie: Winter Cup - Crossing the Door Is About
Shunsuke Tada's 2016 Japanese animation is the last of three films compiled from a basketball series. Rakuzan meets Shutoku in the semi finals, and Akashi's technique of seeing every move in advance presses the opposing team. The film prepares the final stage of the tournament. The narrative brings solidarity within the team forward through the match; the double play of Midorima and Takao and Akashi's past sit at the centre. The material comes from episodes of the series and new footage is limited. The animation is fast; the match is cut at length and followed almost minute by minute. Who it's for: those who follow the series and like sports animation. Who it's not for: viewers new to it; the film assumes you have seen the previous two.
