Haikyu!! The Movie: Battle of Concepts

Karasuno reach the regional final. Opposite them is Shiratorizawa; a team that has not lost for years and holds the best attacker in the country. Ushijima is left handed and a spiker; nobody can handle his strike. Karasuno have a plan: speed. The fast attack Hinata and Kageyama developed strains the other side's defence. The match goes to five sets. The narrative consists almost entirely of this match and leaves the court rarely. Susumu Mitsunaka directs. Ayumu Murase and Kaito Ishikawa are among the voices. The source is Haruichi Furudate's comic series. The film is a compilation of the series' third season, which covered a single match. It is the second of a two part compilation. The matter it treats is beating what cannot be beaten; the narrative does not build Ushijima as a villain and gives his view too. In the match the cutting follows the ball and the players' positions; the tactics are described directly. What distinguishes the series is team play; the narrative does not lean on one hero. It grants no prize at the end and ties into what follows. Its limit is form; being a compilation the rhythm is compressed and it repeats for anyone who watched the series. Who it is for: viewers who like sports animation and followers of the series. Who it is not for: it is not an entry point, tells one match, and does not complete the story.
