Last Call at the Oasis

The documentary says plainly that water is not an endless resource. It starts in the United States. It shows the shrinking supplies that Las Vegas depends on. It goes to the farmland of southern California. The long drought in Australia comes into the story too. Aquifers that took thousands of years to fill are being emptied fast. What water is left is being polluted. The film opens up local cases of that pollution. Erin Brockovich speaks in those sections. Scientists and lawyers speak as well. Scarcity is not the only problem here. Water turning into a commodity is discussed at length. The film also gives room to proposed solutions. Some of them are technical and some are political. Erin Brockovich and Peter H. Gleick speak in the hundred and five minute documentary, an American production Jessica Yu and Elise Pearlstein finished in 2011.
