Love Unlike in K-Dramas

Meira Anastasia's 2024 Indonesian film follows Dhea on an unexpected trip to Seoul. There she meets an old flame and begins questioning her current relationship. The title points to the gap between expectation and reality. Dhea has looked for the romance she learned from Korean series in her own life; the narrative both takes that expectation as a subject and makes it ridiculous. Lutesha leads. Part of the film was shot in Seoul and references to the series sit inside the narrative. The tone is light; the narrative leaves the decision to the woman and does not treat choosing between two men as the only question. Who it's for: those who like Indonesian romantic drama and know Korean series culture. Who it's not for: viewers expecting an original structure; the film follows a familiar pattern.
