Melody for a Street Organ

Alyona and Nikita are sister and brother. The girl is ten and the boy is eight. Both of them have been orphaned. They run away from the children’s home. The person they are looking for is their father. They have never seen the man and do not know his face. All they have is an address. They travel to a large city. They spend their days at the railway station and around it. They are afraid of being split up and sent to separate homes. Their father is the one link left from their broken family. Along the way they come across a great many people. Some look at them and some look away. It is close to the new year and everyone is waiting for a miracle. Lena Kostyuk and Roma Burlaka appear in the hundred and fifty three minute film, a Ukrainian production Kira Muratova finished in 2009.
