What The Tuner Is About

Andrey is a young piano tuner and never has enough money. His girlfriend Lina wants more. The two of them work out a plan: Andrey will win the trust of two wealthy old women and then take their money. The women believe him. As the plan works, Andrey himself starts to change. Kira Muratova's film was shot in black and white and runs two and a half hours. Muratova does not build a realist crime story; the acting is deliberately overdone, lines are repeated, and scenes move at an odd rhythm. Alla Demidova and Nina Ruslanova play the two women. The film started from a real case of fraud.
