What Metallica and San Francisco Symphony: S&M2 Is About
A concert film, not a documentary: Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony on stage, with no storytelling section in between. It is the twenty-years-later return to the first S&M meeting of 1999, played over two nights to open the city's new hall, the Chase Center. Twenty pieces were chosen, among them two classical works picked by the conductor Michael Tilson Thomas. The band re-edited the footage and remixed the sound. Where the arrangements work and where metal and orchestra just crowd each other is arguable, but the staging and audio quality are high.
