What Million Dollar Legs Is About
Klopstokia is on the edge of bankruptcy. Every woman in the country is named Angela, every man is named George, and the entire population is athletic from birth. Someone spots the resource and talks the government into it: enter the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics and win the money that saves the state. With W.C. Fields as president and Jack Oakie driving the plot, it is one of the strangest comedies of the pre-code years, and it loses any viewer looking for logic within five minutes. Joseph L. Mankiewicz, not yet a director, is on the writing credit.
