Miracle

A young novice slips out of her convent. She has a matter that cannot wait and she tells nobody about it. She takes a taxi down into the town, goes where she has to go, and then something happens to her on the way back. The second half of the film begins days later: a police inspector retraces, step by step, everything she did that day. Bogdan George Apetri wrote and directed it, and the film is divided in two halves built as mirrors of each other: the same roads, the same shots, the same sounds, this time in reverse. Ioana Bugarin plays the novice and Emanuel Pârvu the inspector. The telling opens the gap between faith and justice and does not put either in the other's place. The film screened in the Horizons section of the Venice Film Festival and won the grand prize at Warsaw.
