Mom, Is That You?!

Akio works in the human resources department of a company. He goes to visit his mother Fukue, who lives in Tokyo. He does not find her as he left her; she has come alive and built a life of her own. Akio cannot make sense of it. During the visit he meets a friendly neighbour. Those encounters change the way he looks at things. He starts noticing what he had not noticed before. The film tells it inside the life of an old neighbourhood. The account rests on small encounters rather than large events. Mei Nagano is also in the cast. Yo Oizumi and Sayuri Yoshinaga take the leads in Yoji Yamada’s Japanese film of 2023.
