What My Dear Enemy Is About
Hee-soo urgently needs money. A year ago she lent it to her former boyfriend Byoung-woon, and now she finds him and asks for it back. He has no money either, but he does have people he knows. All day they go round Seoul visiting his old friends and old girlfriends one by one. Hee-soo stays right behind him so he cannot slip away. Lee Yoon-ki's film takes place over a single day and moves almost entirely through the car and through short meetings. Its Korean title, Meotjin haru, means one fine day. Nothing big happens in the telling; everything sits in the measure between the two actors. Jeon Do-yeon plays Hee-soo and Ha Jung-woo plays Byoung-woon. It can be called a Seoul road movie; the city is as visible as either of them.
