No More Mr. Nice Guy

The Wall has come down. Two brothers, one of whom cannot read and the other not much better off, set out east to claim the house left to them by their grandmother. On the road a Russian deserter takes them hostage, and then the three of them go on together. Nadine joins them as well. Nothing goes as planned. Detlev Buck's German comedy is set in the eastern lands just after reunification: empty roads, closed factories, a country where nobody knows what to do. Joachim Król and Horst Krause take the leads. The humour is dry and does not mock the characters. The film drew a large audience in Germany and was the production that made Buck's name.
