Kanti Sharan Mudgal lives in Ujjain and works at a temple. His life is quiet. It comes out that his son Vivek has had an incident at school and the boy is expelled. The cause is a recording his classmates spread. Kanti is ashamed and thinks of leaving the city. Then he changes his mind: he takes the school to court. What he asks for is not compensation; he wants sex education put into the curriculum. The trial begins. There is an experienced lawyer on the other side. Kanti conducts his own case and uses ancient texts as his sources. Amit Rai writes and directs. Pankaj Tripathi plays Kanti and Yami Gautam the opposing counsel; Akshay Kumar and Pavan Malhotra are in the cast. The language is Hindi. Many changes were required as it passed the censor board; some dialogue and scenes were altered and the film was given an adult rating. The matter it treats is sex education in schools; the film builds it as a gap in education rather than an argument about morals. The narrative rests its case on ancient Indian texts and conducts the argument from inside tradition. The character Akshay Kumar plays stands differently from the first film and has less room. The film took a strong result at the box office. The courtroom sections are its centre of gravity and the speeches run long. Its limit is method; the narrative is didactic and the characters serve as carriers of the argument. Who it is for: viewers who like Indian courtroom drama and films of social argument. Who it is not for: it is didactic, runs long, and the subject is sensitive for some.
